In Jetpack version 7.0 a new block called GIF was added.
It’s been added to the block catalogue.
I’ve also enabled the Markdown and Tiled gallery blocks.
Over the past couple of days I’ve created entries for the Blocks provided by Jetpack 6.9. I may have missed some, due to only having selected a few modules.
|Title||Block type name||Block categories|
|Subscription Form – jetpack/subscriptions||jetpack/subscriptions|
|Telephone – jetpack/field-telephone||jetpack/field-telephone|
|Text – jetpack/field-text||jetpack/field-text|
|Tiled gallery – jetpack/tiled-gallery||jetpack/tiled-gallery||jetpack|
|Website – jetpack/field-url||jetpack/field-url|
I believe there are more blocks in Jetpack 7.0
Subscription Form – A form enabling readers to get notifications when new posts are published from this site.
Website block – Add an address input for a website.
Message block – Message – let folks speak their mind. This text box is great for longer responses.
Text block – When you need just a small amount of text, add a text input.
Telephone block – Add a phone number input.
Select block – Compact, but powerful. Add a select box with several items.
Radio block – Inspired by radios, only one radio item can be selected at a time. Add several radio button items.
Name block – Introductions are important. Add an input for folks to add their name.
Use the Email block in a Jetpack form to receive a syntax validated email address.
- Use the Email block in a Jetpack Form to receive an email address of the form submitter. This will allow you to reply to them.
- The Email block can be set to Required.
- You can set a default value.
In Automattic/jetpack#11250 I raised a problem with a PHP Notice appearing during display of the Form block. This post is a test to see if the problem occurs when the post type supports ‘author’
Could it be the author thingy?
I imagine the problem will go away with the next update to the oik-shortcodes plugin, where I’ve added post type supports author to a number of post types in order to support my own shortcodes/blocks that use the author data. See bobbingwide/oik-shortcodes#61.
Manually adding post type support using oik-types appeared to make the problem worse! In some cases the Notice was issued before Headers. It did however seem to fix the post created for the Form block, once I’d saved the post again. Do we need to check the value of post->author?
In this post we’re trying out the Related Posts block.

Earlier today I noticed that this subdomain was producing 500 internal server error.
I tracked it down to the fact that I’d updated PHP to 7.1.2 while trying to debug a problem where PHP_SAPI was not constant. I hadn’t noticed that Jetpack 4.4.2 causes segmentation errors with this version of PHP.
The version of PHP is 7.1 until Jetpack has been updated to 4.7
